The leaves are oxidized almost all the way, stopping just shy of becoming a black tea, giving the cup a bold, smooth body. As close as it is to a black tea, it' definatly an oolong, with all of the layered character that makes oolong interesting. The flavor leans warm and deep, with notes of cinnamon, amber, earth, and soft smoke. This is the tea to choose when you want more depth than a greener oolong, but more nuance than a straightforward black tea. It also rewards resteeping.
